Describe and explain each of the furnishings/features.
Example:
The
altars at both Churches are in a central and raised position so that they can
be seen by all members of the congregation.
The altar is a special table used at services; this is the place where
the priest blesses the bread and wine at communion. They both have a white linen altar cloth and candles on them.
At services the candle are lit. The
diagram of Our Lady’s Church shows where the altar is placed.

with the baby Jesus; angel surround them and are carrying trumpets.
The window is decorative and obviously reminds one of the name of the

The stained
glass window at Our Lady’s Church recalls the Nativity story.
It clearly shows the importance of Mary’s role in the virgin birth of
Jesus; this is the reason why many Christians turn to her in prayer.
The window also reminds the believer that Jesus is the Son of God made
man. The window would have
special importance during Advent and Christmas services when Christians are
called to remember these events and reflect on poverty and injustice in the
world; the picture clearly show Mary in poverty in a manger.
R.J. Smith in ‘The Church Today’ writes:
“Pictures
of the Nativity are not only decorative, they are a reminder to Christians
that God is a God of love; especially a God of love of the poor.
As Christians we are also called to love the poor and to be
charitable.”
